Authors!    Reserve Your Table NOW for The Scriptorium BookFest 2019!

This is a first-come, first-served event.  If you have Michigan author friends who are interested in participating in our BookFest, please send them the link to this page, or have them connect with us on Facebook. We are limiting our participants to MICHIGAN AUTHORS ONLY.   We will make an announcement on our Facebook page, and on our website when tables have sold out.

Enrolling your book(s) inThe Grey Wolfe Scriptorium Consignment Program for a minimum of six months is a requirement of participating in the BookFest.  This will help to promote not only  authors and their books, but also the bookshop, well after the festival is over.  Participation in the Consignment Program is completely free to  Michigan Authors, and the particulars of that program can be found HERE.   Books must be shelved at The Scriptorium one month prior to the BookFest date.

BookFest Time: 10am to 7pm
Depending  on author and space availability, we may offer children's events,  author readings, and panel discussions in addition to general book  sales.  Keep a watchful eye on our Faceebook page as these details develop! 

BookFest Location: The Laurus Academy is located at 24590 Lahser Road, Southfield, MI 48034  (see the map on The Scriptorium Bookshop website), with ample parking for both authors and readers. The  school is located on Lahser Road, just south of Ten Mile Road,  approximately one mile south of the I-696 exchange.  The Laurus Academy is a wheelchair accessible, non-smoking facility.  Service animals are  welcome. 

BookFest Admission:  Admission to attend The Scriptorium BookFest is FREE!   We encourage readers of all ages to attend.  We ask that children under the age of 13 years old be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Hourly Raffle Drawings:  We will have several fun items available for our hourly raffle  drawings.  You never know what you may win when you drop your card in  the box!  Authors and their table buddies are eligible for hourly raffle  drawings, too.  You must be present to win.  Let us know if you are interested in donating a book or other item to our raffle.  It's a great way to generate additional awareness of your writing and your attendance at BookFest!

Food & Beverages: Food Concessions for visitors will not be permitted inside the school.  Authors may provide FREE,  small, commercially wrapped candy or other snacks (cookies/chips) for visitors to their tables.  Authors are asked not to sell food at their tables.  Parents are asked to watch over their children and please be sure they have clean hands when handling books!  Alcohol of any kind is not permitted on school grounds!

Author Table Reservation Fee:  $80 per author for a full table (6 foot) includes one Panera box lunch.  Table fees are not pro-rated for those authors who opt-out of lunch.   Authors may purchase an additional lunch for their table buddy, if they choose.  One author per table, please.  Half tables are not available.  However, if you want to invite another author to share your table, that's fine; but the registration reservation must be in one author's name, and if you invite another author to share with you, this precludes you from having a "table buddy" at your table.  We only have room for two humans at each table.  Each author is also expected to donate at least one signed copy of one of their title(s) to The Laurus Academy Student Library.  Books that are not  "school-age appropriate" will be donated to the school's PTO Lending  Library for teachers, administrators and parents.

Author Set Up Time:  Authors may begin table set up at 9:30am-10am on Saturday.  Table  displays must be "family-friendly".  We recommend that you enlist the help of a "table buddy" (one table buddy per author, please)  to help with table set up and to spot you for breaks during the day.   If you see another author who doesn't have a buddy, please be kind to your neighbors and spot them whenever the need arises.

Author Break Down Time:  7:00pm - 7:30pm.  We ask that authors please do not begin to pack up  tables until 7pm.  It's important that our tables remain available for as many readers to visit as possible.  You never know who may visit late  in the day.

Book Stock: Authors are responsible for providing their own books for the BookFest.  Inventory held on The Scriptorium shelves will NOT be substituted, should you run out of books (this is to maintain the  integrity of our consignment records).  However, if you do run out of books, you may send readers to The Scriptorium to buy copies that are on the shelves.  The Scriptorium will be open for business on BookFest day.  If you run out of books, you must remain at your table (promoting and handing out swag) until the BookFest closes.

The Cash Register:   Each author must have their own cash box, and we hope you will also accept credit and debit cards, as well.  There will not be an ATM on the school grounds.  WiFi is available for those authors processing credit cards on their phone or tablet via Square or a similar system.  Contact us if you need help  setting up your Square account.  Unfortunately, we are unable to assist with other payment platforms.

A Note To Authors Regarding Promotion:   We expect that if you're going to commit to joining us for The  Scriptorium BookFest, you will promote the thing like crazy!  The more people you tell, the more books we all sell, the bigger the event gets to be next year!  You can be sure that we'll be sharing the event on our social media channels, in our email blasts, on our website, with the local Chamber of Commerce(s), in press releases, and at our bookshop (of course)... and we expect that you will be just as enthusiastic and engaged as we are in getting the word out.  After all, if no one comes, we've all wasted our time, haven't we?  So, talk about it, post about it, tweet about it, blog about it, host a giveaway of some sort at your table or on your Facebook page, scream it from the rooftops, post flyers around your neighborhood... whatever it takes to get lots of readers in the door... do that!  Remember, the latest PEW Research shows that it  takes 28 impressions of an image for someone to take action on that message.  Share often, saturate the airwaves with your message... it's  the best way to see success!

If you  are NOT agreeable to consigning your books at The Grey Wolfe  Scriptorium, and/or if you are unable to commit to staying for the ENTIRE Festival (9:30am - 7pm), please DO NOT reserve a table at the BookFest.

BookFest table reservations are first-come, first served.

Please keep in mind that all table fees are non-refundable.
